Ha ha – so today Hasselblad have announced a 200Mpx camera!
Ok – so it isn’t a 200Mpx chip – but instead the camera has some fancy electronics that means it takes 6 pictures and combines them. I.E. “MS” = Multi Shot. I didn’t realise this but the 39MS and 50MS already existed. The 200MS can work as a 50MS – taking 4 shots instead of 6.
Of course – since it takes 6 separate shots – this will take time and need both a very still camera (i.e. on a solid mount) and a still subject – so things like product shots and still life etc. Examples on the Hass site are watches and cars. This won’t work for people.
I’ve had a look and can’t find any trace of estimated file size – but since my 10Mpx RAW is roughly 15Mb un-compressed – I guess the files will be about 300Mb each! (A VERY rough estimation btw – comparing very different cameras)
How much ? A cool 32,000 Euros.
People joke that new hasselblads cost the same as a car – I’d say this is 2 decent cars!
